Campus Email on New Data for Rubric Postings

Posted on September 21, 2023

Dear Colleagues,

We initially planned to post rubrics populated with data for each metric for each rubric category on September 25th. Based on feedback from training sessions and the desire to have 2023 fiscal data as part of the rubrics, our team needs two weeks to add 2023 financial data and address data questions that have emerged. The populated rubrics will be posted on October 6th. This will not change the overall timeline for the Portfolio Review.

During this two-week period, we invite you to attend training events designed to enhance your understanding of the methodology for calculating rubric scores, program-level data available on the academic dashboard, and revenue/expenditure data. These sessions are open to all campus stakeholders.

Rubric Training

This training is intended to help you understand how each rubric item for academic programs will be scored from (1) needs examination to (4) exceeds examination and how that item is weighted within its rubric category and rolled up and weighted by level to create an aggregate score.  The following trainings will model examples for select metrics and categories to explain the methodology:

  • Thursday, September 28 from 4-5pm (NIB 510)
  • Monday, October 2 from 1-2pm (Teams, see below)
  • Thursday, October 5 from 11am-12pm (Teams, see below)

Academic Data Dashboard Training

This dashboard is accessible here. The training will walk participants through the Summary Matrices tab, College/School-level Insights tab, and Program-level Insights tab of the dashboard, highlighting several data points that will be important considerations for program review. These include student credit hour data, headcount trend data, degrees produced, retention and graduation rates, as well as student credit hours per annualized faculty FTE.

  • Friday, September 29 from 11am-12pm (NIB 510)
  • Monday, October 2 from 12-1 (Teams, see below)
  • Friday, October 6 from 10-11am (Teams, see below)

Revenue/Expenditure Spreadsheet Training

Several training sessions on the Excel spreadsheet containing revenue and expenditure data can be accessed in the Documents section on the Innovations website at the following link titled “UNCG Academic Cost and Revenue Analysis.”  This file resides in a secure location.  If you are signed into SSO it will take you there directly, otherwise you will be prompted to login.

  • Friday, September 29 from 10-11am (NIB 510)
  • Wednesday, October 4 from 10:30-11:30am (Teams, see below)
  • Thursday, October 5 from 4-5pm (Teams, see below)

Thank you again for participating in the various trainings, the Faculty Senate Forum on 9/20/23, and on engaging in this important review.

Be well,

Debbie Storrs
Provost & Executive Vice Chancellor
